Brief History

Kitchen Ergonomics is a family run business established in 2004. We design, supply and fit bespoke quality kitchens, bedrooms and home study furniture. Understanding great design that works with the space provided is paramount to your long term enjoyment of any home project – at Kitchen Ergonomics we pride ourselves in understanding our clients’ needs and wants.

Mission Statement

Kitchen Ergonomics mission is to provide you, the homeowner, with fitted kitchens, bedrooms and home study furniture of high quality at realistic prices. To ensure you experience exceptional customer service throughout the design, supply and installation process.

How We Work

There are many scenarios in the design, build and installation of a fitted kitchen and we are fully capable of fulfilling all requirements.

However to give you an idea of what we do to ensure that your kitchen is completed in time, on budget and the finished product is as you imagined it would be, the following 13 step process is an example of how the service usually unfolds.

Fitted Kitchen Guide

1. INITIAL ENQUIRY

The process starts with your initial enquiry, be it in the form of a phone call from you, an email or by you visiting the Kitchen Ergonomics showroom.

2. ENQUIRY FORM

We will ask for your help in completing an enquiry form to properly start the process. Primarily it’s for contact details but we’ll ask specific questions regarding the decisions that you need to make or you need to start thinking about. For example:

  • What range/worktop type are you interested in?
  • Do you want your kitchen fitted or just supplied?
  • What appliances and accessories are you keeping/buying new? new?
3. FIRST SITE VISIT

By asking “why do you want to change your kitchen” or “what do you want from your kitchen”, it gives us a very good starting point to work from. We’ll then be in a position to ascertain what you need your kitchen to do, what you will use the space for and therefore offer ideas and suggestions based on your responses. This visit is also where the design of your Kitchen Ergonomics kitchen will start to evolve.

4. INITIAL MEASUREMENTS

We will now take measurements of your kitchen and prepare a rough, sketched plan for you or work from your architectural plans. In addition, we can also coordinate with builders and tradesmen regarding services locations etc.

5. CAD PLANS

The sketches come back to our office in Stevenage and they are entered in our state-of-the-art Computer-Aided Design (CAD) system. This enables us to render your drawings into accurate dimensional room plans and 3D ‘photo-realistic’ presentations so you will be able to see ‘virtually’ what your kitchen will look like based on the specifications we’ve discussed.

6. DETAILED QUOTE

Once we have the specification of the kitchen including units, worktops, appliances and accessories, all the details are inputted into own in-house client management system. This automatically prices the complete kitchen and provides each client with a full, detailed quote broken down by the cost of the products and the cost of installation to give an overall cost. This is then presented to the client for review.

7. CONSULTATION

Once your quote has been prepared, we can then arrange for you to come into the Kitchen Ergonomics Consultation Room to thoroughly review your plans and your quote to make sure you are 100% happy. This gives us an opportunity, if necessary, to redraw, re-plan and reposition units and appliances until you have exactly what you asked for. This can be carried out as many times as is necessary – until we’ve got it exactly right.

8. INITIAL DEPOSIT

Once all the decisions and selections have been finalised – units, sinks, worktops, accessories etc – and you are ready to proceed, we collect a deposit of 35% of the goods total only and book your installation/delivery date.

9. CHECK MEASURE VISIT

This involves the Designer, the Project Coordinator and the Fitter. If any ancillary people need to be there (for example builders, electricians or plumbers), they will be. It gives us a chance to introduce them to you and to make sure everyone involved in the process is moving forward in the same direction.

10. ORDERING

We are now in a position to order your kitchen from the manufacturer, put together a schedule of works. Once we have done this, we send you your letter of confirmation. All products arrive at our warehouse two weeks before the installation and we quality control each piece. This also gives us the opportunity to carry out any enhancements or modifications, that your design requires, at our in-house workshop.

11. DELIVERY

Once all your units are ready, we coordinate the delivery of the goods with your pre-arranged start date. On delivery, we then take a further 60% of the outstanding goods total.

12. INSTALLATION

Our fitters will now install your kitchen with minimal disruption and downtime. An average installation takes around a week, but is dependent on a number of factors such as size, type, complexity and building works but the time frame will be detailed in the schedule of works. This will have been discussed and agreed with you during the consultation process (see step 7 above).

13. COMPLETION

Upon Practical Completion, 100% of the fitting amount is due. Practical Completion means that if a door handle or an appliance is faulty and needs replacing, the balance remains due and we will replace whatever issues arise. Once you are completely happy, the remaining 5% of the goods balance falls due.
